** January - Jade's Full Month Party **
3 & 4 Jan'2009
We decided to celebrate Jade's full month for 2 days as there were just too many guests to invite. Initially, we wanted it to be a small affair, this proved to be a tough task. Hahha!!! So we decided to invite all who came to our mind. Colleagues, frens, relatives & the list went on.
On 3 Jan, the party was dedicated more to Ken's family & relatives and my frens. We ordered buffet for 2 days. I put up some decorations and personally made letter-cutting of Jade's name n pasted it on the wall.
My darling wore a white romper with pretty flowers and butterflies. Her accessories were anklet and bracelet given by "Tai Po" and grandparents. I was instructed by my parents to let Jade wear them during her full month's party.
3 Jan was the last nite of my confinement aunty, of cos have to take photo of Jade & Aunty lah! Thanks for her help throughout the first month. She realli helped us alot. I also want to thank her for feeding me well, hhaha!!! Look at the photo n u realised wat I meant. :)
On 4 Jan, it was 2nd day of Jade's full month. My family & relatives came. And more of our frens. My confinement aunty left in the afternoon, and frm that moment onwards, our nitemare began. Hahhaa!!!
Friends and their kids
Gifts - Thank you to all family & frens for their generosity.

** Arrival of our Precious Angel **
In my previous post, I was counting down 10 days to Baby Jade's arrival. However, she was eager to come to this world, maybe she wanted to celebrate bday together with Granny and to attend her Yiyi's wedding. She's not gg to miss the big occasion.
Yes, she arrived on 7 Dec'08, Sunday. Weighing 3.005kg and measuring 48cm.
I was experiencing contractions around 1am plus, after monitoring for a few hours, off we went to KKH. I was inspected and was 4cm dilated liao. I was admitted to the labour ward straight. It was 4plus in the morning.
The actual labour started at around 6plus, I told myself to go through it w/o epidural no matter what. When the nurse put me on drips, the intense contractions was realli unbearable. I used the gas but it was of zero use.
I was lying on my side and whenever the pain came, I will grabbed the bed railing and put my breathing technique into use. It didnt help much too, and I kept telling myself, no epidural, no epidural, bear with it!
In the end, it was Kenny who wanted me to take epidural. I surrendered and said ok. While waiting for the anesthetist to come, the midwife was asking me questions like do I feel like clearing bowels when the contractions came. Tell u, when u r in great pain and ppl is asking u questions, u dun feel like answering at all. Hahaha!!! I told her ya! Then she do another cervix chk for me again. This time she said I was dilated to 8cm. Basically no need to take epidural liao. I heaved a sign of relief. I was thinking, finally the ordeal is over. Baby Jade is gg to come out soon.
Sad to say, I struggled almost 2 hrs before Jade realli popped out. Tremendous amount of energy was wasted during the push. I was told to switch to 2 other positions to hasten the labour, but it was of little help too.
Forcep was finally needed to get Baby Jade out. It was really an experience that I will never ever forget man! The feeling was definitely indescribable when I held Jade in my arms.
I'm overjoyed to see Baby Jade in my arms, and that she's able to latch on without fuss. However I was unable to walk, my bones seem to be on strike, they refused to move. I had difficulties getting out of the bed and walk.
Still, I was discharged the next day. I need to be wheeled down to the carpark in a wheelchair. Even when I got home, I need the help of a office chair (with rollers) to help me move around. I was walking backwards when I'm not using the chair. I can't reached Jade the moment she cried, I depended alot on the confinement lady and Kenny.
Anyway the dreadful moments were long gone. I'm enjoying every single moment now with Jade. I will be returning back to work real soon. I must treasure every precious minute and watch Jade grow day by day.
Playing PSP to kill time in the labour ward!

I will keep it short & sweet since it's already the 2nd month of 2009 liao. Haha!!!

** Motherhood **
It has been a month plus since my last post. Plenty of backlogs but just not enuff time to post them online. I will try my best to put these logs up whenever I have the time.
In my last post, I was counting down to Baby Jade's arrival while enjoying my annual leave.
However, Baby Jade can't wait till EDD and she came a week earlier, too eager to celebrate Grandma's birthday. Yes, Baby Jade arrived on 7 Dec'08, Sunday. It was my mum's birthday too. Initially, my family decided to have fishhead steamboat to celebrate her bday. However, due to Baby Jade's arrival, I got no chance to enjoy my last decent meal. Haha!!!
Today, Baby Jade is 1 month and 6 days' old. I ought to be enjoying motherhood every single moment. Yes I do, no doubt about it. But there's always 2 sides to a coin.
Here's my version of Motherhood.
I think I depend too much on the confinement lady during the first month, thus I do not realli take care of Baby Jade during the night. I latched her on whenever needed and bottled-fed her when aunty is busy. I bathed her once before aunty left. Time realli flies, the first month ended with 2 full month celebrations for Baby Jade. That also marked the departure of my confinement aunty and the start of taking care of Baby Jade on our own.
I know it's gonna be tough and I got myself prepared. However, it's not a matter of how prepared you are, it is definitely not easy taking care of a baby, especially a demanding one like Baby Jade. It can be mental torturing. Seriously, not sure how long I can withstand this ordeal.
Baby Jade doesn't want to slp at nite, she won't allow u to have a peaceful nite as well. I have tried all methods to try to get her to slp. Even though she does not want to slp, she will never failed to wail for attention either.
Most days I slept for 4 hours only. During day time when she slept, I got to do household chores and prepare my own lunch. Sometimes I had lunch at 3pm cos I need to attend to all her needs.
Taking care of a baby seems like a breeze to others but not me.
Baby Jade won't allow me to sit down n pat her to slp. She wants me to walk round the whole house in the middle of the nite. When thinking she's alsp, I will put her down to her cot, she will wake up 5 mins later and wailed for attention again. She can torture me in this manner frm 2am till 6am or even longer.
I'm not those weak kind of person whom dun even know how to handle a baby, it's just that Baby Jade cried even after her feeding or changing of diaper. She cried for attention and do not allow me to rest. Think I'm gg to have a mental breakdown soon, hahhah!!!
Still, I lurve her though she's cranky and difficult to take care. It has been very difficult ever since I gave birth to Baby Jade. From the labour to aftermath till now, just three words to describe - Traumatising, Tiring and Torturing.
Many things are different once u have a baby. I stayed home 24hrs frm Mon to Fri and can't go out as and when I like, like in the past. I'm at a different stage of life now and Baby Jade is now our priority, but at the same time, it seems that I have lost something in my life too. I dun know, I felt confused sometimes, sometimes I regretted having Baby Jade. Sometimes when I looked at her, I have mixed feelings.
Not sure if I'm suffering frm post-natal blues, I do feel very upset nowadays.
Anyway, hope things will get better and to see Baby Jade grow day by day is another joyful part of Motherhood. I must think positively in order to chase away the blues I have now.
I will try to post Baby Jade's photos whenever I have the time, which proof to be difficult.
Pen off for now.
Kudos to all Mothers! :)

** Counting down 10 days...??? **
Yesterday was the first day of my annual leave. Yippee...I have more time to do my things until the big day arrive. Went shopping for Xmas gifts with my sisters yesterday @ Takashimaya, being extremely heavy and clumsy now, still managed to shop for 3-4 hours without resting. Kudos to myself!
